  • Phones and phone chargers are allowed but should not be out unless required by the activity or taking group pictures of how much fun you are having

Come join us on a journey to Palmyra, New York!  Activities include watching the Palmyra Pageant, visiting the Sacred Grove, and visiting other important church historic sites. For all youth turning 14 years old in 2019 and older.

General Info and Rules

We are thrilled to be able to take our Boston Stake Youth to Palmyra this year for youth conference.  We have the best youth in the church, so we don’t expect any problems.  However, we’d like to provide some guidelines and expectations for the conference to make sure we all have a positive experience.  Please read and consider the following:


Rules and expectations:

  • Obvious adherence to Strength of the Youth guidelines will apply throughout the entire youth conference.  

  • We are staying at Hobart and William Smith College outside of Palmyra in Geneva, NY.  We have reserved 3 floors of a dorm. Girls on one floor, boys on one floor with the leaders on the middle floor.  At no time are YW and YM permitted to visit each other’s floors. 

  • Cell phones are permitted, but use of cell phones will be restricted during the day.  Using a cell phone or electronic device during a group tour or while our guest speakers are speaking is inconsiderate and will result in the cell phone being confiscated. 

  • Social media use should be used moderately during the conference.  Any posts made during youth conference should be about sharing one’s own positive personal experiences and learning.  

  • All phones will be turned into group leaders at night and will be given back to the youth the following morning.  Please consider packing an alarm clock or wrist watch to keep track of time.  

What to wear, bring and not bring:

  • Strength of youth standards apply to dress code throughout the trip.  We ask the youth to dress comfortably for travel, but to look respectable as we will be representing the church, the Boston Stake and Boston in general.  

  • Upon arrival Wednesday morning at check in, youth will receive a youth conference t-shirt to wear on Thursday.  

  • Spending money is not necessary.  All costs will be covered by the church.  There will not be a lot of opportunities to purchase things on this trip.  However, if youth want to bring money they are welcome to do so. 

Meals and dietary info*: 

  • Eat breakfast before arriving at the conference.  

  • Bring a sack lunch for the bus for the first day.  

  • Breakfast: all you can eat buffet at the dorms. 

  • Lunch and Dinner: Will be provided at different locations.  

  • Snacks: We will provide the youth with snacks each morning.  They will grab snacks and will carry them all day to eat/ration as they wish. 


*Special consideration has been made to ensure youth with allergies are being accommodated.  


Preparing your child for Youth Conference: 

Parents/guardians, please take some time to talk to your child about the following: 

  • Responsibility while traveling

  • Behavior in public spaces, especially at monuments, sights and the pageant 

  • Being respectful of others and their opinions

  • Appropriate cell phone usage

  • Being active and engaged with their groups

  • Healthy eating habits


Medication: If your youth needs help administering medication, please talk to us at check-in Wednesday morning.  Otherwise we will assume they can handle their own medication. Youth will carry their own Epi-pens and/or inhalers while on the trip.

Parents/guardians, please have your youth at the church no later than 6:30 AM on Wednesday 7/10 for an on-time departure. 


We plan to be back to the Weston Building by 10:00pm on Friday night, but will have the youth call/text/email you when we are 1 hour away and need to be picked up.
